Linux for Christians | Ichthux

Oh my god! Some people must be reaaaaaly bored! A linux distribution for christians? What about the people that aren’t christians? Create a linux distro fro men only and I bet you will hear things like "discrimination of women". But does anybody complain about a linux for christians??
But I know who is the first user :)

Did you post the same about vegetarian restaurants? How about people who are not vegetarians?

Oh, and how about people who don’t use bikes? It it stupid to have bike stores because you won’t go there?

By the way, I’m not half as bored as to write clueless posts on my blog about things I’m not interested in, got better to do in my day :)

    Take care

A vegeterian restaurant is something completely different. Vegetarians don’t want meat …
But what is it tha christians don’t like about other distros that a complete new distro is needed?
I don’t write posts about things I’m not interested! I am interested in linux nad other things that hve to do with linux.
I mean what’s next? Linux distro for White people? and a other one for Black people?
Don’t take this personal, it’s just that when you look at things around and what happened in history, when I hear something about religion it makes me sick! but that is a different thing.
Thanks anyway for leaving a comment ;)

Of course – other Linux distributions are diabolic and must not be used by christians. :-)

    Fair enough.

I’d be happy to put the work I do in Ichthux directly in Ubuntu by default (even have the upload rights to so it wouldn’t be hard technically) but I really doubt basic Ubuntu users would be happy to find Bible verses on their desktop, links to BibleTime and Kio-Sword in the KDE bar by default, or a Christian emoticons theme in Kopete…

Ichthux can just be compared to Edubuntu in many ways. It targets a group of people with specific needs. Edubuntu provides software for education – school, universities, libraries – while Ichthux provides for Christian users and communities. Both put their packages directly in Ubuntu and provide default settings that differ from the standard flavor or Ubuntu.

You’re right about that one. I would get quite scared to see bible things on my desktop.
Imagine how someone with a different religion would react.
But I still don’t understand WHY anything special is needed. What special needs do christians have that it requires modifications?
Well everybody is free to do what he/she wants :)

I’m happy to receive comments on the necessity to create a distro or not or the loss of time in doing so when it comes from fellow distro makers.

However, when simple users say it is stupid and clueless to create a new distro, I just wonder where they are during the whole nights we spend improving Ubuntu/Kubuntu.

People who don’t want new distros simply have to not use them. People who want existing distros to improve simply have to get involved. This is how open-source works :)

Well that’s exactly what I do :) I’m not using ichtux :) don’t take it personaly.
I doubt that I would be any help for Ubunut, lack of time and no C or C++ knowledge.
The only OpenSource project where I am working on is the dtc controll pannel ( http://gplhost.org/ )
And on my todo there are also some translations:

    Gallery2 – romanian translation
    Joomlaboard – romanian translation
    Phpgedview – romanian translation

    :)
